Welcome to our adventure! We are two young professionals that love to travel to experience new places and cultures. We tend to gravitate towards historically significant places and breathtaking beautiful sights.
“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”
– Susan Sontag
A little bit about Justin
Justin grew up in small towns in Texas and Oklahoma in a family of people with kind hearts and strong work ethic. This strong work ethic has carried over into his professional and personal life. His life outlook is work hard, play hard.
He works extremely long hours at his current job. So when he does have time off to travel or pursue a hobby, he completely commits to that effort. He is the primary photographer for our blog, and he’s the the reason we’re actually doing one instead of talking about it.
While we plan trips and book hotels and excursions together, he does most of the details. He does all the little stuff I hate about traveling. He’s my navigator.
Justin’s first major trip was a family vacation to Las Vegas when he was 10. He and his sister enjoyed the theme park at Circus Circus for hours. He still has a love for Vegas, but for entirely different reasons.
Growing up, Branson, Missouri was his family’s get-a-way of choice. His parents mostly enjoy traveling by car if they are taking a trip. They try to take a trip at least once a year, and they prefer the freedom of going your own way that a car provides.
As an adult, he’s been available to travel the world extensively through his job. He spent 6 weeks living in India, and he’s traveled throughout Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and South America. While traveling for work is definitely not the same as for pleasure, he’s makes the most of every trip he takes to experience as much as possible.
His favorite travel memory involves 18 hours in London. This man saw absolutely everything worth seeing. It’s insane. He visited more places than my mother and I did in three days in London. The man is truly remarkable. Our favorite travel memories are extreme opposites. It’s a running joke in my family that I can only do three things a day before I’m done.
His love of travel stems partly from his interest in history, as does mine. So you can expect us to hit all of the major historical sites first on trips we take together.
If you enjoy history as much as we do, feel free to stop back in here as we update our trips!
A little bit about Sarah
I’ve had a fondness for travel from an early age. I actually began plane travel as an infant, because my mom took advantage of a layover in Kansas City as a way to drop me off with my grandmother on her way to Nebraska for job training she was doing for a few weeks. She would fly out on Monday, drop me off with my Nana, and pick me back up on Friday on her way home.
I flew solo from ages 9-11 to visit the same grandparents three summers in a row in Tuscan, Arizona. Traveling has always been a huge priority with my mother and her family. She’s been a huge influence on my love of travel.
In high school I participated with an elite junior volleyball team, and then played for the University of Arkansas and the University of Oklahoma. This afforded amazing opportunities to travel all over the country. Although this type of traveling involved lots of gyms and Panera breads.
I was able to do study abroad my senior year at Oklahoma, and also after my first year in law school, in Spain and Ireland, respectively.
My approach to travel tends to be leisurely. I love eating and drinking as the locals do, and just being in a new place.
My favorite travel memory is kayaking in Dubrovnik, Croatia with my mother. We have almost no pictures of this day. But I remember how gorgeous the buildings were, and how clear the water was, and how blue the sky was. It was an absolutely perfect day.
Justin tends to be much more go, go, go. I’m hoping we can mesh our travel styles. Being with him allows me to see things I normally wouldn’t push myself to see, and being with me allows him to take a second to enjoy where we are at that moment.
Looking forward to crossing off as many places off my list as I can! I hope you’ll join us.
